Our Story

Why I Founded Astrosport, OSRA, and APAS

The inception of Astrosport, OSRA (Orbital Sports Research Association), and APAS (Association Pax Astro Sport) stems from a convergence of personal experiences, professional engagements, and a vision for peace and innovation through sports in space. Here are the key dimensions that inspired these initiatives:

Ukraine/Russo Conflict and the Pursuit of Peace

The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia has deeply affected me. During my MBA, I had the privilege of studying alongside brilliant individuals from both countries, and I collaborated with many talented Ukrainians and Russians during the Tokyo Olympics. Witnessing the tragic loss of life and the devastation brought by this conflict has been heartbreaking. The aim of APAS is to foster peace and cooperation through sports, creating platforms where differences can be resolved through dialogue and friendly competition rather than violence.

Space Sports Innovation

The concept of space sports, particularly inspired by the idea of space fencing with a light-saber halftime show, emerged from my efforts to find new opportunities for StM’s wireless fencing technology. Traditional fencing is constrained by the need for a retractable wire, which led me to envision a transition from linear (1D) to planar (2D) and ultimately to volumetric (3D) arenas. This leap to 3D would necessitate a zero-gravity or orbital environment, presenting both immense challenges and opportunities. The potential for broadcasting such innovative sports events could be substantial, offering a unique spectacle that combines athletics with futuristic technology.

A Long-term Vision Beyond Personal Ambitions

While a significant motivation for starting these entities was my desire to contribute to the Olympics once more, the vision quickly expanded beyond personal goals. Establishing these organizations has allowed me to pursue a more profound impact, offering lasting benefits that transcend my individual participation in the Olympics. The idea initially included practical considerations, such as obtaining an address and visa for France. However, it evolved into a mission to create a sustainable and influential platform that promotes international collaboration, scientific research, and the development of space sports.
